Mehmet Kaya

I started in Cappadocia in 2010 as a regional tour coordinator, spending three seasons working directly with hot air balloon operators and local hospitality businesses. That hands-on experience — the early mornings before flights, conversations with travelers from around the world, watching how seasonal changes affected every aspect of the region — sparked something in me. I wanted to understand not just where people go, but why they go, when they go, and what actually matters when you're planning a weekend away.

After formal studies in Tourism Management at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, I spent the next decade documenting over 200 individual weekend trips across the Princes Islands, Black Sea highlands, and Central Anatolia. I've built relationships with local guides, hoteliers, and seasonal business operators who know their regions inside and out. My work combines personal travel documentation with academic rigor — I don't simply describe destinations, but explain the timing, logistics, and cultural context that make each getaway unique.

At tolukan Ltd, I translate these years of accumulated knowledge into practical, trustworthy guides. The goal isn't to sell trips. It's to help readers make informed decisions about their weekend plans — understanding what they'll actually experience, when they should go, and what to realistically expect.
